Chiefs Dethrone Royals in Record Setting 8-1 Rout

Spokane, Wash. - The Chiefs hosted the Royals for the first time this season on Saturday night and picked up a much needed comfortable victory by a score of 8-1. It was also the fan favorite Fred Meyer Shop With The Chiefs night, with six fans competing during intermissions for the chance at a $1,000 Fred Meyer shopping spree, accompanied by the Spokane Chief's player of their choice.

Coco Armstrong started the party with a wrister from the left wing at 9:25 in the first.

Carter Streek picked up his first point of the night with an assist on the play. Before long, Roulette would double the advantage on the power play. Brayden Crampton and Berkly Catton piled on the assists.

The Chiefs would head into the first intermission with a 2-0 lead. Victoria scored first in the second period at 4:24, courtesy of Reggie Newman from Justin Kipkie and Tanner Scott.

Chiefs' rookie Owen Martin was on the board next, with a sneaky near post finish. The first of six consecutive Spokane goals.

Chiefs' import Rasmus Ekström took the drop pass from Harrington and made no mistake with his first goal of the night. He would score again just moments later, setting a new Spokane Chiefs franchise record for quickest two goals by a single player, at 13 seconds apart.

After the Swede's two goals made it 5-1 Spokane, Carter Streek piled on the sixth, at 6:10 in the third. Ben Bonni and Layton Feist had the assists on the play.

Coco Armstrong was credited with Spokane's 7th goal and Cole Wadsworth made it 8-1 with less than three minutes remaining in the game.

Spokane was 3/4 on the power play and 5/5 on the penalty kill. Netminder Dawson Cowan was a brick wall in goal, making 34 saves and only allowing one goal. The Chiefs featured a balanced attack with 10, 12, and 12 shots in each period respectively.

The Chiefs hit the road to play at Portland on Sunday night, before returning home on Wednesday, November 29th versus Saskatoon. It will be another edition of TicketsWest Player Magnet Giveaway with puck drop at 7:05 PM.
