Matchup Notes

Tonight marks the third of nine meetings this season between the Oil Kings and Hitmen.

The Hitmen took the opening two games of the season series in lopsided fashion a couple of weeks ago winning a home-and-home set by a combined score of 16-3.

All-time, the Oil Kings and Hitmen have met 106 times in the regular season with the Oil Kings holding a record of 53-44-8-1.

Coming In

The Oil Kings come in off snapping a three-game losing streak thanks to a thrilling third period 4-2 come-from-behind win last night over the Regina Pats at Rogers Place.

The Oil Kings trailed the game virtually in its entirety until a four-goal eruption with just under eight minutes to play in regulation.

John Szabo got the Oil Kings on the board before Skyler Bruce knotted the score with a power play marker a short-time later setting the stages for a game-winning-goal from Marc Lajoie with only 2:30 left in regulation. Ty Nash put the finishing touches on the win with a last-minute empty net marker. Gavin Hodnett had three assists in the win, while Kolby Hay made 27 saves.

The Oil Kings power play went 1-for-4 in the game, and they now have 11 power play goals over their last 11 games, while the penalty kill was a perfect 3-for-3, having killed off 16 of the last 17 times shorthanded.

The Hitmen meanwhile come in after back-to-back narrow losses to the Red Deer Rebels last week by scores of 3-0 and 3-2 after being 7-1-2-0 in their previous 10.
