Chicago Sky News Release
CHICAGO - The Chicago Sky has officially secured its ticket to the postseason. By virtue of today's 92-84 victory over the Las Vegas Aces at Wintrust Arena, the Sky will advance to the 2021 WNBA Playoffs for the third straight year under Sky General Manager and Head Coach James Wade.
"As a franchise we're very excited," Wade said. "Now we are coming together at the right time, everyone is healthy, and we're just excited for the next few weeks so we can prepare. Now we know we have the postseason to get ready for."
Wade has led Chicago to playoff appearances every season since joining the Sky in 2019. Prior to Wade, Chicago hadn't made a trip to the postseason since 2016. The 2019 WNBA Coach of the Year, Wade now holds the second-most wins of any head coach in franchise history.
Chicago is the sixth team to clinch a spot in the 2021 WNBA Playoffs, which are scheduled to begin on September 23. It will be the franchise's seventh overall WNBA Playoff appearance (2013-16, 2019-21).
