
Cheesesteaks Open Series with Durham

The Lehigh Valley Cheesesteaks will open a three-game set with the Durham Bulls on Friday night at Coca-Cola Park. First pitch is slated for 7:05 p.m. Lehigh Valley enters play at 32-28 and tied for third place in the North Division after splitting a four-game series at Gwinnett. Durham is in second place in the South Division at 28-34 after splitting a four-game series with Norfolk earlier this week.
RHP Jake Thompson (4-5, 3.82) gets the ball for the Cheesesteaks in the series opener. Thompson got the win on Sunday at Charlotte after allowing three hits while walking two and fanning three in six innings of work. The right-hander entered the season ranked as the No. 3 prospect in the Phillies system according to Baseball America.
LHP Blake Snell (3-4, 3.14) will be on the bump for the Bulls on Friday night opposite Thompson. Snell earned the win on Sunday vs. Gwinnett when he gave up five hits to go along with three walks and nine strikeouts in 6.0 IP. The southpaw is ranked as the No.1 prospect in the Rays system and has not allowed an earned run in 3 of his last 4 GS.
After notching a pair of hits on Thursday, Lehigh Valley INF Taylor Featherston is hitting .444-2-4 (8-18, 2B, 3B, 5 BB, 6 R) over his last five games.
There will be Friday Night Fireworks presented by Gary Lee's Brown Daub Kia. Friday is also Salute to Philadelphia Night as the IronPigs are changing their name to the Cheesesteaks to celebrate the occasion and the team will be wearing special Cheesesteaks jerseys. The Phillie Phanatic will also be making appearances throughout the game on Friday.
