PAWTUCKET, RI - The Louisville Bats opened a three-game series at Pawtucket on Friday night, falling 5-1 to the Red Sox at McCoy Stadium. The Bats maintain the best road record in the league with a 20-12 record.

Pawtucket jumped out front in the first inning with three off Bats starter Jon Moscot (1-3, 7.56). They would add two more in the fifth before Moscot was taken out for reliever J.J. Hoover. Moscot finished with four and one-third inning pitched, nine hits, five earned runs one walk and two strikeouts. He threw 102 pitches, 59 strikes.

After the first inning, Moscot threw three straight scoreless innings before he allowed two more runs in the fifth by the way of two RBI doubles. The Bats bullpen remained dominant in the loss, tossing three and one-third scoreless innings. They have a current streak of 12 and one-third inning without allowing a run since the walk-off double on Tuesday at Syracuse.

The Bats added on a run of their own in the eighth inning after left fielder Scott Schebler recorded his first triple on the year while third baseman Jermaine Curtis singled him in. They did not muster up any more runs.

Left-handed pitcher Roenis Elias (4-3, 3.54) collects his fourth victory after dealing seven scoreless innings, allowing just five hits and striking out seven.

The Bats hope to even the series tomorrow as right-handed pitcher Robert Stephenson (3-3, 3.47) takes the mound for Louisville against left-handed pitcher Henry Owens (4-2, 3.60) for Pawtucket for a 6:05 pm start at McCoy Stadium.
