Checkers vs. Stingrays game three tonight

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Charlotte Checkers and South Carolina Stingrays face off tonight at 7:05 pm in North Charleston in the decisive game of the South Division Quarterfinals of the 2006 Kelly Cup Playoffs.

The Checkers extended the series with a 4-3 win in Game Two on Tuesday at St. Lawrence Homes Home Ice at Charlotte Bobcats Arena. The Stingrays opened the best-of-three series with a 6-3 win in North Charleston on Monday.

Charlotte's Nathan Gillies and South Carolina's Matt Reid have been hot for their respective clubs in the series with two goals and two assists each. Gillies notched two goals and an assist to lead the Checkers in Game One, while Dusty Jamieson found the net twice in Game Two. Reid has been strong for the Stingrays with a pair of goals in both games of the series.

Charlotte's Jeff Glass has made 44 saves on 56 shots (.846) while South Carolina's Davis Parley has made 53 saves on 60 shots (.883).

If the Checkers advance, they will face the Gwinnett Gladiators in a best-of-five series. The series would begin with Games One and Two at Gwinnett on Saturday, April 15th and Sunday, April 16th. The Checkers would host Game Three on Thursday, April 20th. If necessary, Game Four would be Friday, April 21st at Charlotte and Game Five would be at Gwinnett on Sunday, April 23rd.
