Campbell named ECHL MVP

The ECHL announced today that Gladiators forward Jeff Campbell has been named the ECHL's Most Valuable Player for the 2005-06 season. The award is presented annually "to the player adjudged to be the most valuable to his team" as voted by the coaches of each of the ECHL teams.

Campbell finished the 2005-06 season as the Gladiators leading scorer with 83 points from 30 goals and 53 assists to set a new team record for most points in a season. He is also the only Gladiator in team history to score 30 goals in back to back seasons.

He made his first career trip to the AHL this season on March 15th as he was called up to the Lowell Lock Monsters. In 7 games with Lowell, Campbell posted a power play goal and an assist to finish with 2 points.

Campbell was named First Team All-ECHL on Apr. 5 and was one of just two players, joining teammate Troy Milam, as the only players selected from the American Conference on either the first or second All ECHL teams. Campbell was named to the ECHL All-Rookie Team last year.

The Hensall, Ontario native was selected to represent the Gladiators in the ECHL All Star Game for two consecutive seasons. He recorded an assist in the 2005 ECHL All Star game in Reading, Pennsylvania, and finished with a goal and two assists in the 2006 ECHL All Star Game in Fresno, California.
