
Checkers split games at Florida

Charlotte Checkers News Release
CHARLOTTE, NC - The Charlotte Checkers moved to 3-1-0 after splitting a pair of games with the Florida Everblades last week. The Checkers are currently tied with the Texas Wildcatters for second place in the American Conference South Division behind the Gwinnett Gladiators. The Checkers will face both of those teams this weekend at St. Lawrence Homes Home Ice at Charlotte Bobcats Arena after returning from a Tuesday night matchup with South Division opponent Pensacola. Gwinnett will come to Charlotte on Friday and Texas visits the Queen City for a Sunday game.

Thursday, October 26, 2006 @ Florida, L, 1-4 The Charlotte Checkers tasted defeat for the first time this season on Thursday night in a 4-1 loss to the Florida Everblades in Fort Myers, Florida. The Everblades got goals from four different players and a 21 save performance from goalie David Shantz. Charlotte was outshot for the game 44-22.
Saturday, October 28, 2006 @ Florida, L, 3-1 The Charlotte Checkers were tired of losing to the Florida Everblades in the regular season at Germain Arena. The Checkers rebounded from a 4-1 defeat in Florida Thursday night, with a 3-1 triumph over the Everblades Saturday night. The victory snapped an eight-game, regular-season losing streak in Fort Myers. Prior to Saturday, the last Checkers win on Everblades home ice was in March of 2003.
