Checkers partnership with "Scouting For Food" a big success

(Charlotte, NC - Sunday, February 8) The Charlotte Checkers partnership with "Scouting For Food" in an attempt to help feed the hungry turned out to be a huge success Saturday night. Checkers fans were asked to bring canned food to Charlotte's home game last night at Cricket Arena, with the food to be donated to "Scouting For Food" for distribution to the hungry. A season-high crowd of nearly 8,000 fans turned out, and several hundred cans of food were brought to the arena by Checkers fans. The Checkers rewarded their fans with a 3-0 shutout win over the Roanoke Express, and everyone who donated a can food of food received a free ticket to Charlotte's game against the Florida Everblades at Cricket Arena on Wednesday, March 24.
"We want to thank our fans for their tremendous response to our request to help "Scouting For Food" by bringing canned food to last night's game," commented Checkers President Jeff Longo. "We want to commend "Scouting For Food" for their commitment to helping those in need, and as an organization we are very privileged to partner with them in this effort."
Fans can continue to help by bringing canned food to today's game at Cricket Arena when the Checkers will host the Augusta Lynx at 3:00 p.m. Fans who bring a can of food to today's game will also receive a free ticket to the Checkers home game on Wednesday, March 24 against the Florida Everblades.

TICKET INFO: All individual game tickets are on sale and may be purchased at the Cricket Arena Box Office, the Charlotte Coliseum Box Office, and all Ticketmaster locations. Tickets may also be purchased by phone by using a credit card and calling Ticketmaster at (704) 522-6500, and through the Internet at www.ticketmaster.com.
Individual game tickets for the 2003-04 season are priced at $7.00 for balcony seats, $10.00 for end mezzanine seats, $12.00 for side mezzanine seats, $15.00 for circle seats, and $20.00 for box seats.
