Bakersfield Condors News Release

Fresno, Calif. – Shane Bendera stopped 38 of 39 Fresno shots to backstop a 4-1 victory by the Bakersfield Condors over the Fresno Falcons at the Save Mart Center on Saturday night.

Bakersfield took the lead early in this game, just 2:28 into the contest when Paul Rosebush tallied his 11th goal of the season to make it 1-0. Paul Willett and Jimmy Drolet assisted. The line of Rosebush – Willett – Mike Barrie connected again about five minutes later when Barrie picked off a clearing pass by Fresno, skated right down the middle of the ice and snapped home his seventh of the year. Barrie has scored in four of the last six games. Jason Weaver scored on a partial breakaway to cut the lead to 2-1 after 20 minutes. The Condors had a lead after the first period for just the third time on the road all season.

The second period remained scoreless until the final minutes of the frame. Bakersfield finally connected on their third power play of the period, when Quinn Fair's shot got past G Terry Friesen for his 5th of the season. The Condors held the lead after two periods, 3-1. The Condors led in shots during the stanza 11-6.

Bakersfield extended the lead in the third period, despite being outshot 10-2 through the first 11 minutes of the final period. Andrew Ianiero scored his 11th of the season to bring about the final margin. The Condors allowed a single-period high 21 shots during the third period, but Shan Bendera stopped them all for his team-leading seventh win of the season. He finished with 38 saves in the game and the Condors won back to back road games for the first time all season.
