Fresno Falcons News Release

FRESNO, Calif. – The Fresno Falcons never bounced back from falling behind, 2-0, in the game's first 7:25 as they remained winless in four games at Save Mart Center against the Bakersfield Condors this season by losing, 4-1, on Saturday in front of 7,582.

The Condors' Paul Rosebush opened the scoring when he beat two Fresno defensemen to a long rebound left by goaltender Terry Friesen at 2:28 of the first. Paul Willett then stole the puck from a Falcons forward, which turned into a three-on-two spearheaded by Mike Barrie. Barrie kept it himself before wristing in his seventh of the year at 7:25 for the eventual game-winner at 7:25. Fresno captain Jason Weaver tallied his team's only goal at 10:42 of the opening period, when he was sprung on a clean break-away by Boris Protsenko. He beat Bakersfield netminder Shane Bendera for his team-leading 13th of the season.

The Condors led, 2-1, throughout much of the second before converting on their fifth power play of the game off a deflection by Kevin Riehl at 18:15.

In the third, Fresno tied a season high with 21 shots on goal, but Bendera remained sharp on his way to stopping 38 of 39 on the evening. Andrew Ianiero finished another three-on-two at 11:42 for the final margin.

The Falcons are now winless in their last seven at home and drop to 12-30-5 overall with 29 points.

They next take the ice on Friday, Feb. 13, when they host the Alaska Aces at 7 p.m. at Save Mart Center. Fresno will wear Valentine's Day-themed jerseys, which will be auctioned off after the game courtesy of Valley Lahvosh Bakery. All proceeds from the jersey auction will benefit the California Transplant Donor Network.
