Charlotte Checkers News Release
Charlotte, NC (October 17, 2002) The Charlotte Checkers are pleased to announce that the majority of the club's road games this season will be broadcast on Sports Radio 610 AM, WFNZ. In addition, the Checkers' will broadcast all road games on the Internet through TRZ Sports Information Services, Inc. The announcement was made today by Charlotte Checkers' President Bob Scheer. The Checkers return to WFNZ following four years on WNMX. WFNZ carried the Checkers from their inaugural season in 1993-1994 through the 1996-1997 season.
The Checkers' first broadcast on WFNZ will be Friday, October 18 at 7:35 when Charlotte will travel to Richmond to take on the Renegades. Fans may also catch all Checkers' road games on the Internet by logging on to the Checkers' web site at www.gocheckers.com.
Tim Donelli, the Checkers' Director of Communications and Broadcasting, will once again assume play-by-play duties. Donelli has been a part of the Checkers' broadcast team for the past eight seasons.

The Charlotte Checkers enter their tenth season as members of the East Coast Hockey League, who celebrate their 15th anniversary this season. The team is owned by Felix Sabates and Carl Scheer.
