Grand Rapids Griffins News Release
Grand Rapids, Mich. - The Grand Rapids Griffins on Thursday announced that center Stacy Roest (ROOST) has been assigned by the Detroit Red Wings to the American Hockey League team. In addition, the Griffins today assigned right wing Rustyn Dolyny (DOLL-in-nee) to Muskegon of the United Hockey League.
Roest, 28, returned for his second tour of duty in the Red Wings organization when he signed with the defending Stanley Cup champions on Aug. 27, 2002. He recorded 28 points (11-17-28) in 108 games with Detroit between 1998-2000, then spent his last two NHL seasons with the Minnesota Wild, totaling 48 points (17-31-48) in 134 contests. Roest did not appear in any of the Red Wings' three games this season.
A native of Lethbridge, Alberta, Roest played parts of five seasons (1994-99) with the Red Wings' previous AHL affiliate in Adirondack, averaging nearly one point per game (75-139-214) in 239 outings. During the 1997-98 campaign, his last full season in the AHL, Roest posted career highs and ranked among the league's leaders with 34 goals, 58 assists (T4th), 92 points (T4th), seven game-winning goals (T1st) and 288 shots (2nd).
Roest is expected to be in uniform on Friday night when the Griffins host the Houston Aeros at 7:30 p.m. Dolyny, 25, made his Griffins debut in last Saturday's 6-4 loss to Cleveland, going scoreless.
