Portland Pirates News Release

PORTLAND, ME - "Crackers", the Portland Pirates' original mascot, returns to Portland on Sunday, October 20th when the Pirates host the Manitoba Moose at 4:05 p.m. His return is just part of the Pirates' "Kids' Opening Day" celebration, sponsored by Joker's Family Fun & Games.

Crackers was a fixture at all Pirates' home games during the first eight seasons, entertaining fans young and old. Last year, he took a one-year hiatus but returns to welcome fans alongside Salty Pete, the Pirates' mascot who was introduced last year with the change of the team's logo.

A child's ticket for Kids' Opening Day is free with the purchase of each adult ticket. The first 3,000 kids, twelve and under, will receive a complimentary cup with four video game tokens inside, courtesy of Joker's. Children will also get a chance to experience an animal exhibit in the arena, hosted by 4-H.

Following the game, all fans are invited to lace up their skates and join the team on the ice of the Civic Center for a post-game skate with the team.

Tickets for Sunday's game and all Pirates' home games are on sale now at the Civic Center box office and all Ticketmaster outlets. Tickets may also be ordered by phone by calling the box office at 775-3458 or Ticketmaster at 775-3331.
