Augusta, GA. - The Checkers were down by two goals late in the contest and took 22 seconds to tie the game against Augusta but eventually faltered in overtime losing by a score of 4-3.

The Checkers struck first on the power play during the first stanza when Jeff Miles skated out of the left wing corner and stuffed a shot past Lynx netminder, Mike Brodeur at 9:43 putting Charlotte up 1-0. The Lynx would tie the game after Matt Auffrey fired a shot on Checkers goalie Jeff Jakaitis and the rebound went right to an open Patrick Bordeleau who blasted it into a gaping net at 13:48 tying things up at 1-1 after twenty minutes.

The lone goal of the second period was scored by Augusta on the power play when Scott Thauwald found a loose puck in the crease and slid it past Jakaitis at 1:20 putting the Lynx up 2-0 after forty minutes.

It took 22 seconds for the Checkers to tie the game in the third period. First, it was a power play goal by Tomas Zaborksy at 11:48 which was followed up by a tic-tac-toe passing play that was finished off with a nifty backhander over the shoulder of Brodeur by Peter-James Corsi at 12:10. This locked the game at 3-3 and took it into an extra session.

During the overtime period, the Checkers were signaled for a penalty and the Lynx capatilized with a power play goal by defenseman Chris Brooks at 2:00 earning the victory for the Lynx by a score of 4-3.
