Dayton Bombers News Release

Trenton, NJ - The Dayton Bombers capitalized off a pair of Mike McLean goals in the third period to defeat the Trenton Devils 4-3 tonight.

The Devils jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the first period as leading scorer Eric Castonguay put the puck past Dayton goaltender Paul Drew. At the end of the first Trenton was outshooting the Bombers 8-6.

Dayton tied the score at one a piece when Alaska native Nathan Schwartzbauer picked up his first of the season on a wrap-around goal past Jason Smith. Ben Geelan and Ryan Smyth were credited with the helpers. Following two periods of play, the Bombers were outshooting the Devils 16-14.

Both teams picked up the offense in the final period, however, it was Trenton that got off to the strong start. Goals by Taylor Burton and Jim Henkel gave the Devils a two-goal advantage, but McLean cut the lead in half at the 12 minute mark from Justin Bowers. Less than five minutes later McLean struck again, this time off a Dominic D'Amour deflection. Following a Trenton penalty in the final two minutes of play, Bowers scored the game-winning goal from Nino Musitelli and Greg Labenski.

The Bombers finished the night 1 of 3 on the power play and 2 of 4 on the penalty kill. Rookie netminder Drew earned his first professional win after making 13 of 16 saves.

The Bombers will face the Devils again tomorrow night at 7:00 p.m. before heading to Reading for a game with the Royals on Sunday at 5:00.

The Bombers will return home on Saturday, November 15 against the Johnstown Chiefs at Troy, Ohio's historic Hobart Arena at 7:30 p.m. then Sunday, November 16 against the Chiefs at the Nutter Center at 5:00 p.m.
