Omaha Storm Chasers News Release
OKLAHOMA CITY, OK - A defensive miscue allowed Oklahoma City to score the go-ahead run in the 7th inning, as the Dodgers defeated Omaha 4-2 on Saturday night at Bricktown Ballpark.
The Dodgers opened the scoring in the bottom of the 3rd against Josh Staumont . Henry Ramos led off with a double, advanced to 3rd on a groundout, and scored on a flare single by Tim Locastro.
Staumont was excellent over 4.2 innings in just his 2nd start of the season. He allowed only 1 run on 3 hits, with 6 strikeouts and no walks.
Omaha tied it in the 6th, as Terrance Gore singled and went to 2nd on fielder's interference. Billy Burns sacrificed Gore to 3rd, and Adalberto Mondesi drove him in with a single to tie the game at 1.
Daniel Corcino tossed 6 innings for Oklahoma City, allowing 1 unearned run, 4 hits, and 1 walk. He struck out 6.
OKC took advantage of a Chasers mistake to regain the lead in the bottom of the 7th against Jake Kalish (L, 1-1). Travis Taijeron singled, and although he was picked off while trying to steal 2nd, the relay throw glanced off shortstop Adalberto Mondesi's glove as he covered 2nd base, allowing Taijeron to be safe at 2nd on the error. With 2 out, Rocky Gale punished the mistake, singling to left field to score Taijeron for a 2-1 lead.
Tim Locastro gave the Dodgers breathing room with a solo homer in the bottom of the 8th. They added another on a double by Kyle Farmer and a single by Edwin Rios, making it 4-1.
Brian Schlitter (W, 2-0) was the winning pitcher, throwing 2 scoreless innings in relief. Pat Venditte (S, 2) pitched the 9th for the save.
The Storm Chasers (23-32) will conclude the series tomorrow afternoon at 2:05. RHP Wily Peralta (0-0, 5.33) will toss for Omaha, while Oklahoma City will counter with RHP Brock Stewart (1-0, 2.08).
