
Charge Hold off Warriors for 103-90 Victory

The Canton Charge (12-7), presented by SecureData 365 and powered by the Cleveland Cavaliers, defeated the Santa Cruz Warriors (10-5), 103-90, at the Kaiser Permanente Arena night.
Canton led the entire game and by as many as 30, keeping their large cushion due in part to hitting 40-of-77 shots (52%) and dishing out 22 assists, 11 of which came in the first quarter. Santa Cruz attempted to mount their comeback in the fourth when trailing 88-58, they outscored the Charge 26-5 over the course of 6:45 to pull within single digits for the first time since 4:39 in the first quarter at 93-84.
After both teams traded turnovers, Brandon Paul knifed through the lane and scooped a layup home from underneath the basket that kept Canton's advantage comfortable at double digits again for the remainder of the game. Canton came into tonight with the third-ranked scoring defense in the D-League at 96.6 points allowed per game, with tonight's win now putting them at 9-2 this season when holding their opponent under 100 points.
Arinze Onuaku posted his fifth-straight double-double and tenth in 13 games by netting 16 points on 8-of-10 shooting, 12 rebounds and two steals in 41 minutes. Paul tied his season best with 20 points to go along with six boards, five assists, four steals and two blocks in 31 minutes. Antoine Agudio poured in 18 points on 7-of-9 shooting and five assists in 33 minutes. Michael Dunigan added eight points, 11 rebounds and two blocks in 38 minutes.
Elliot Williams paced the Warriors with 19 points on 9-of-11 free-throw shooting with 10 rebounds in 40 minutes. James Michael McAdoo scored 18 points, grabbed eight rebounds and swatted two blocks in 38 minutes. Dominique Sutton came off the bench to and 14 points and nine boards in 30 minutes of relief.
The two teams meet again in Santa Cruz tomorrow, January 2nd at 10:00 p.m. Canton returns to the Civic Center on Saturday, January 10th at 7:00 p.m. for a matchup with the Westchester Knicks (New York Knicks affiliate)!
