Chang Delivers in Extra Innings Win

(Eastlake, OH) -The Lake County Captains watched an early 6-1 lead disappeared in the top of the ninth inning. The Lansing Lugnuts rallied to score five runs in between the seventh, eighth and ninth innings to send the game to extra innings. In the bottom of the tenth inning, Yu-Cheng Chang delivered a walk off base hit to score Bobby Bradley for a 7-6 Captains win.

The Captains would strike first with two runs in the bottom of the third inning. With one out Steven Patterson would reach a single, his first of three in the game. Greg Allen would follow with his sixth homerun of the season. It was a two run homerun the just cleared the top of the yellow line on the wall in rightfield.

Lansing would answer right back with the only run off of Captains' starter Jordan Milbrath. D.J. Davis would connect on a solo homerun on the first pitch of the inning. His fifth homerun of the season cut the Captains lead to 2-1.

Lake County wasted little time grabbing a bigger lead. Bobby Bradley started the bottom of the fourth inning by blasting his sixtieth homerun of the season. It was a towering blast that sailed over the indoor batting cages in rightfield. Taylor Murphy, Francisco Mejia and Chang would then all follow with singles. With one out Patterson delivered a two run single to score Murphy and Mejia. Chang would also score on an RBI groundout from Bobby Ison for a 6-1 lead.

The Lugnuts would chip away with two runs in the seventh and a single run in the eighth.

In the top of the ninth inning Juan Kelly walked for Lansing to start the inning. Christian Vazquez then followed with a double to put runners at second and third. Austin Davis would then deliver an RBI single to score Kelly and moving pinch runner Jason Leblebijian to third with the tying run. Captains' reliever Nick Pasquale would then commit a balk allowing Lebleijian to score from third to tie the game at 6.

Bobby Bradley started the bottom of the tenth inning by striking out. However, the ball sailed past Lugnuts' catcher Juan Kelly for a wild pitch allowing Bradley to reach first. Murphy would follow by drawing a walk to put runners at first and second. Mejia then laid down a sacrifice bunt to move Bradley to third and Murphy to second. Chang followed by lining a 0-1 pitch off the top of the wall in rightfield to score Bradley and setting off a celebration as the Captains swarmed the field following the walk off win.

Milbrath takes a no decision after going 6.0 innings. He allowed 1 earned run on 3 hits. Milbrath walked 1 and struck out 7. Cameron Hill would follow with 2.0 innings of relief. He allowed 3 runs, 2 earned, on 4 hits. Hill did not walk a batter and struck out 2. Nick Pasquale (1) earned a blown save after going 0.2 innings in relief. He allowed 2 earned runs on 2 hits. Nick walked 1 and struck out 1. Caleb Hamrick (4-1) earned the win with 1.1 innings of relief. He did not allow a run or a hit. Hamrick walked 2 and struck out 1.

The Captains will look for the series win over the Lugnuts on Thursday night with Sean Brady on the mound for a 7:00pm first pitch.
