Connelly Named Pitching Coach for AZ Fall League

BELOIT, Wisc. - Beloit Snappers' pitching coach, Steve Connelly has been named as one of the pitching coaches for the Mesa Solar Sox of the Arizona Fall League.

The Arizona Fall League has been regarded throughout professional baseball as the "finishing school" for top prospects since its inception in 1992. The six team league will feature top prospects from every organization in Major League Baseball. The league plays three games per day, six days per week in six Cactus League stadiums.

The Mesa Solar Sox will be a team combined with the top prospects from the Chicago Cubs, Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, Miami Marlins, Tampa Bay Rays, and Oakland Athletics organizations.

Connelly, who had his first professional coaching assignment as pitching coach at Short Season Single-A Vermont last year, has taken over those duties in Beloit this year. Connelly starred on the University of Oklahoma's 1994 team that won the College World Series. He was selected in the 24thround of the 1995 draft by Oakland. He made his Major League debut in 1998, posting a 0-0 record and 1.93 ERA in three relief appearances with the A's.
