Cincinnati Cyclones News Release
CINCINNATI, Ohio - Cincinnati Cyclones defenseman Chad Starling has been named Paysource USA ECHL Plus Performer of the Month for Fbruary. Starling, 27, was even or better in all 13 games during the month, as the club set an ECHL record with a 17-game winning streak. He was a plus player in eleven games and was a multiple plus player in four contests.
Starling, a native of Delisle, Saskatchewan, is the second Cyclones player to collect the award in team history (David Desharnais in November 2007 was the other). The 6-foot-6, 205 pounder added a goal and an assist during February as well.
For the season, Starling leads all ECHL players with a +42 rating. He is also approaching the ECHL single season record for plus/minus rating of +59 (Victor Gervais of Hampton Roads in 1992-93).
Starling played last season with the Cyclones, registering four goals and 15 assists for 19 points and a team-best +23 plus/minus rating.
Has been a rock for us in back through the stretch of games when we were shorthanded. His experience is something we will count as we approach the Kelly Cup playoffs.
"David has been a catalyst offensively and defensively during a very good month of November," Head Coach Chuck Weber said. "He gives us a presence that other teams have to watch for."
The runners-up for the award at +13 were Cyclones forward Barret Ehgoetz and defenseman Conrad Martin. Florida's Ernie Hartlieb was also +13 for the month.
The Cincinnati Cyclones play a pair of games at U.S. Bank Arena this weekend (Friday and Saturday) against North Division rival, Reading. Face off both nights ts at 7:30pm.
