Charlotte, N.C. - The Checkers scored three unanswered goals and the Dayton Bombers were unable to mount a sufficient comeback as Charlotte would win by a score of 5-2.

During the first period, Jeff Kyrzakos made no mistake redirecting a pass from Justin Maiser over the blocker of Dayton goalie, Jeremy Duchesne at 8:59 putting the Checkers up 1-0. Later, it was Kryzakos banging home a rebound on a Lee Falardeau shot at 13:59. The period would end with the Checkers holding a 2-0 lead.

Charlotte would extend their lead on a goal by Blake Bellefeuille after he fired a shot that beat Duchesne between the legs at 13:22. Dayton would strike back during a man-advantage when a point shot by Matt Beaudoin found its way through traffic and past Checkers netminder, Chris Holt 19:03. This cut the Checkers lead to 3-1 after forty minutes.

The Bombers continued to mount a comeback in the final stanza. Checkers defenseman Matt Waddell turned the puck over in his own zone and Jacob Schiba would take advantage by flipping the puck over the glove of Holt at 2:18 bringing the game to a 3-2 lead for Charlotte. The Checkers wouldn't allow the game to be close for long as Chris Capraro would one-time a shot over the glove of Duchesne at 10:56 during a 5-on-3 advantage and Bellefeuille would add another power play goal as the Checkers would skate away with a 5-2 victory.

Notes: Holt turned aside 23 of 25 shots while Duchesne stopped 33 of 38...The Checkers struck twice on eight power play chances and the Bombers hit for one out of eight tries.
