Club de Foot Montreal News Release

FORT LAUDERDALE, Florida - CF Montréal is set to kick off the 12th regular season of its MLS history against Inter Miami CF at DRV PNK Stadium this Saturday at 7:30pm (MLS Season Pass, RDS, TSN, BPM Sports).

Already well acclimated to the Florida heat thanks to a preseason training camp based in the Sunshine State since the beginning of the month, the Montrealers will cross paths with the Miami side for the second time in 10 days, having defeated this same opponent 2-1 in a preseason match on February 15. The team also managed to remain undefeated throughout its entire 2023 preseason calendar.

Among the new faces with CF Montréal this season will be defenders George Campbell and Aaron Herrera, midfielder Ilias Iliadis, forward Jules-Anthony Vilsaint, as well as Chinonso Offor, Sean Rea and Jonathan Sirois, the latter three returning from their respective loan spells.

In 2023, CF Montréal will also have a total of nine Quebec-born players on the roster and six players from its academy, including Mathieu Choinière, James Pantemis, Sean Rea, Nathan Saliba, Jonathan Sirois and Rida Zouhir.

In addition, under the leadership of new head coach Hernán Losada, Montreal will be looking to extend its winning streak against Florida clubs to four, not having lost since a 2-0 away defeat on February 27, 2022, against Orlando City in last year's season opener.

As for the opponent, despite some key off-season roster changes, including the retirement of Argentine striker Gonzalo Higuain and the departure of Alejandro Pozuelo, Miami's attack will be counting on its Designated Player, Rodolfo Pizarro, as well as striker Josef Martinez, signed from Atlanta United FC on January 18.
