New England Revolution News Release

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The New England Revolution begin the 2023 MLS regular season on Saturday, Feb. 25 on the road against Charlotte FC. The match kicks off from Bank of America Stadium at 7:30 p.m. ET, free to watch on Apple TV. Eric Krakauer and Lloyd Sam will have the call in English, with Moises Linares and Jaime Macias providing Spanish commentary. All 14 matches during 'MLS is Back' opening weekend are available for free on Apple TV. The Revolution's local radio call airs on 98.5 The Sports Hub HD2, with Brad Feldman and Charlie Davies calling the action, and on 1260 AM Nossa Radio in Portuguese.

New England concluded the 2022 season with a 10-12-12 record as the Revolution saw the emergence of several key players including goalkeeper Djordje Petrović, who returns for his second MLS campaign. A finalist for 2022 MLS Goalkeeper of the Year and Newcomer of the Year, Petrović registered seven clean sheets and a league-best four penalty kick saves across 21 appearances in his debut season. Also returning to the defensive unit are outside backs DeJuan Jones and Brandon Bye, who each registered seven assists in 2022, the most in a season by a Revolution defender. Newcomer Dave Romney jumps into New England's backline in central defense, after joining the Revolution via trade with Nashville SC, where he started all but five league games over the last three seasons. Romney is one of three veteran additions to New England's roster along with forward Bobby Wood and midfielder Latif Blessing, who won the 2022 MLS Cup and Supporters' Shield with Los Angeles FC.

After tallying seven goals and 14 assists last season, Revolution captain Carles Gil begins his fifth MLS campaign - all with the Revolution. The 2021 MLS MVP sits two career assists shy of becoming the third Revolution player to record 50 MLS assists. Gil, who is setting his sights on a fourth double-digit assist season with the Revolution, has led MLS in chances created and earned MLS All-Star honors in back-to-back seasons. Also in the attack, forward Giacomo Vrioni and midfielder Dylan Borrero, the club's first U-22 Initiative signing, enter their first full seasons with New England after joining midway through 2022. Both players scored in preseason victories this year. Borrero netted three goals in 12 appearances last season, while Vrioni, who was limited to 248 minutes played in 2022, netted a goal in New England's preseason finale, a 2-1 win at Orlando City SC last Saturday.

Sporting Director and Head Coach Bruce Arena, the winningest coach in MLS history, returns for his fifth season with New England and is two victories away from his 50th with the Revolution, owning a 48-27-25 record in MLS play. Arena surpassed 250 career regular season victories last year, becoming the first MLS coach to reach the milestone. New England holds a 21-17-16 road record dating back to June 2019 with Arena at the helm, the most road wins among MLS clubs in that time span. Saturday's match marks the team's second trip to Bank of America Stadium as New England opens their season on the road for the 15th consecutive year.
