Lehigh Valley IronPigs News Release
Allentown, Pennsylvania - The Lehigh Valley Cats (11-12) clawed their way to an 8-4 over the Charlotte Knights (11-14) on Saturday night at Coca-Cola Park.
The Knights scored twice in the first thanks to an Oscar Colas RBI triple and Chuckie Robinson RBI groundout. The Cats got one run back in the bottom of the first on a Jordan Luplow solo homer, his fifth of the season.
The Cats spring boarded in front in the third. Cal Stevenson homered to open the inning, his first of the year, to tie the game and then a Darick Hall single and subsequent error on the play allowed Jordan Luplow to score the go-ahead run.
Angelo Castellano belted a two-run homer, his second of the year, to put Charlotte back in front in the fourth, albeit briefly. The Cats scored five times in the last of the fourth, tying the game on a Jose Godoy bases loaded walk before Kody Clemens gave them the lead with a two-run double. Luplow brought in another run with a sacrifice fly before Hall made it 8-4 with a sacrifice fly.
Tyler Phillips (3-1) earned the win for the Cats, allowing four runs on four hits over seven innings, walking two and striking out five. He retired the final 11 batters he faced.
Nick Nastrini (0-2) suffered the loss for Charlotte, allowing eight runs (seven earned) on six hits and four walks, striking out six.
The IronPigs and Knights wrap their series on Sunday, April 28, with first pitch slated for 1:35 p.m. at Coca-Cola Park. The 'Pigs line up David Buchanan (2-1, 3.47) to start while Charlotte goes with Brad Keller (1-1, 4.50).
