Cassivi named Koho AHL Goaltender of the Month

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. -- The American Hockey League announced Wednesday that Frederic Cassivi of the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks has been named the Koho AHL Goaltender of the Month for February. In eight starts last month, Cassivi posted a record of 7-1-0 with a 1.54 goals-against average, a .949 save percentage and three shutouts, leading the Mighty Ducks' charge in the West Division.

The highlight of the month for Cassivi was a club-record scoreless sequence of 189 minutes, 38 seconds, spanning five games from Feb. 11-25. That streak included three consecutive shutouts by Cassivi: a 39-save effort in a 3-0 win over Grand Rapids on Feb. 19, a 37-save performance in a 4-0 win at Milwaukee on Feb. 20 and a 25-save night in a 5-0 win over Philadelphia on Feb. 23. Cassivi finished February on a personal five-game winning streak, helping the Mighty Ducks to an 8-4-0-0 mark on the month.

In recognition of his achievement, Cassivi will be presented with an etched crystal award prior to an upcoming Mighty Ducks home game.

A native of Sorel, Que., Cassivi is in the 10th season of his professional career, the majority of which has been spent in the AHL. He ranks 17th on the league's all-time victories list and owns a career record of 147-137-31 with 14 shutouts in 341 AHL contests. Cassivi, who was a member of Chicago's Calder Cup championship team in 2002, is 16-14-1 in 32 games with Cincinnati this season, boasting a 2.28 goals-against average, a .920 save percentage and six shutouts.

Racine of St. John's, Karl Goehring of Syracuse and Jamie Storr of Utah.
