Hockey Player Turned Pro Boxer Hosts "Rink to Ring" Promotional Tour

Frank "The Animal" Bialowas, a member of the Philadelphia Phantoms Hall of Fame and one of hockey's toughest fighters, is beginning a "From the Rink to the Ring" promotional tour to prepare for his professional boxing debut at the Wachovia Spectrum on Thursday, March 24. At all "From the Rink to the Ring" appearances, Bialowas will sign autographs and pose for photographs while fans can also purchase tickets to see Bialowas fight.

Bialowas, who is the first hockey player to turn professional boxer, makes his pro boxing debut when he enters the ring to face Jarad Vasques in a three-round battle as part of Damon Feldman Promotions' "Ultimate Challenge" at the Wachovia Spectrum on Thursday, March 24, beginning at 8 p.m.

Bialowas came to Philadelphia in 1996 as a relative unknown to hockey fans in the area, but quickly established himself as one of the toughest and most charismatic athletes the city has ever seen. In 67 games in the Phantoms' inaugural season of 1996-97, he registered 254 penalty minutes, including 36 in a single game against Hershey on January 17, 1997. The next year he helped lead the club to its first and only Calder Cup Championship, with 259 penalty minutes in 65 games.
