Adirondack Phantoms News Release

Former Philadelphia Phantoms hockey player Frank "The Animal" Bialowas, one of hockey's toughest and most feared fighters, opens workout to media as he prepares to make boxing debut as part of upcoming live local boxing card at Wachovia Spectrum on March 24. Bialowas is training with world-renowned trainer Augie Scimeca at the legendary Joe Hand Gym.

Bialowas will work speed bag, spar and go through rigorous training regiment in preparation for three-round bout against Jarad Vasquez.

Bialowas, a recent inductee into the Phantoms Hall of Fame, came to Philadelphia in 1996 as a relative unknown to hockey fans in the area, but quickly established himself as one of the toughest and most charismatic athletes the city has ever seen. In 67 games in the Phantoms' inaugural season of 1996-97 he registered 254 penalty minutes, including 36 in a single game against Hershey on January 17, 1997. The next year he helped lead the club to its first and only Calder Cup Championship, with 259 penalty minutes in 65 games.

The Bialowas-Vasquez fight is part of Damon Feldman Productions' "Ultimate Challenge" at the Wachovia Spectrum on Thursday, March 24. The event features a night of live local boxing.

Tickets at $50 and a limited number of VIP tickets at $75 are now available at the Wachovia Complex box office and at all Ticketmaster locations throughout the Greater Philadelphia Region.
