WEST SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Chris Carter homered and Michael Taylor hit a go-ahead, two-run single as Sacramento topped Iowa 5-4 on Tuesday night at Raley Field. Trailing 3-1 in the sixth inning, Carter hit his 28th home run of the season to left field. Taylor followed later in the inning with a two-run single for a 4-3 lead. Sacramento reliever Michael Benacka entered in the ninth inning with the tying run on second base and the go-ahead run on first with no out. After a sacrifice bunt, Benacka struck out the final two batters to end the game. With Fresno's victory over visiting Omaha, the River Cats remain 2.0 games back in the Pacific Coast League South Division standings.
