
Carruth Shuts out Glads, 1-0

DULUTH, GA - In the first of a pair of head-to-head meetings between the two teams this season, the Indy Fuel outlasted the Gwinnett Gladiators on Monday at The Arena at Gwinnett Center in Duluth, Georgia by a final score of 1-0. With the win, the Fuel improved to 10-21-4-3 overall this season and with 27 points, vaulted into sixth place in the ECHL's North Division standings.
The Gladiators outshot the Fuel 10-4 in the first period, but Indy outdid their opponent in the second, racking up 11 shots on goal to Gwinnett's three, however both teams remained scoreless through 40 minutes of play. In the third period, Kyle Stroh potted the game's lone goal at 12:57 thanks to a slick setup from Garett Bembridge and Nick Bruneteau.
Fuel goaltender Mac Carruth earned his third straight win and first shutout of the season in net, thanks to a 26-save performance. With the win, the Fuel wrapped a 4-1-1-0 road trip and have won four of their past five games to extend their season-long point streak to five games.
Next up for the Fuel, it's a Friday showdown with the Allen Americans on "Retro Rewind" night with the opening faceoff set for 7:35 pm at Indiana Farmers Coliseum. The Fuel will be joined by the legendary Hanson Brothers from the classic hockey film, "Slap Shot" and the first 1,000 ticket holders through the gates will receive a free pair of Fuel Hanson Brothers glasses.
