Carroll Called to Cal League

Clinton, IA - The Clinton LumberKings, in conjunction the Seattle Mariners have announced the promotion of outfielder Daniel Carroll to high-A High Desert. Carroll had been on the seven-day disabled list with Clinton.

Carroll, 21, had spent the entirety of the 2010 season with the LumberKings, his second stint with the club. In 81 Midwest League games, he hit .282 with nine doubles, five triples, nine home runs, 44 runs scored, 34 RBI and 25 steals in 31 attempts. His numbers in homers, runs scored and RBI are all career-highs, while his average is the highest he's posted since hitting .323 in the Arizona League in 2007.

Drafted by the Mariners in the third round out of Valley View (CA) High School in 2007, Carroll spent 60 games in the Midwest League with Wisconsin in 2008 before joining the LumberKings last year. He hit .220 with eight doubles, two home runs, 22 RBI and 22 steals in 31 chances in an injury-plagued 2009 campaign.

The Moreno Valley, CA native joins High Desert, where he briefly played in 2008. In 17 games with the Mavericks that year, Carroll hit .135 with two doubles, five RBI and seven steals in 10 attempts.

There is no counter-move affecting the LumberKings' 25-man roster as Carroll was on the disabled list.
