CLINTON, Iowa - It took 10 innings, but the River Bandits prevailed 5-4 in the first game of the doubleheader with the Clinton LumberKings on Thursday night in Clinton. The LumberKings took the second game 6-3 after scoring all six runs in the second inning.

The Bandits got the evening started with four runs in the top of the first in game one. After the Bandits had already scored two, Edgar Lara plated two more with a single to center to give the Bandits a 4-0 lead.

Clinton tied it up with a four-run fourth off Quad Cities starter Daniel Bibona. Those were the only four runs Bibona would allow over his six innings in the no decision. He also struck out nine and walked just one during his time.

The game remained deadlocked at four until Michael Swinson scored on a sacrifice fly by Rosario in the 10th. Clinton threatened, getting runners to second and third in the bottom of the inning, but Aaron Terry (5-4) was able to hang on for the win. He shut out the LumberKings over the final two innings despite allowing three hits. Brandon Josselyn (3-4) suffered the loss after allowing the winning run to score in the 10th.

The LumberKings did all their damage in the second game in the second inning off Bandit starter Joe Kelly (6-8). He was charged with five of the six runs Clinton scored, though one was a runner Chris Corrigan inherited with only one out. Kelly lasted just 1.1 innings and was charged with five runs on four hits with three walks and four strikeouts. He ended up taking the loss for Quad Cities. Corrigan was charged with just the one run in the second and finished out the final 4.2 innings for the Bandits. He allowed six hits but struck out five.

Offensively Colin Walsh led the way in the second game by going 2-for-2 with a walk and a run scored. The Bandits were able to get three runs back but still fell short in the second game 6-3.

Jose Jimenez (3-4) got credit for the win despite allowing two runs over two relief innings. Jason Markovitz started for Clinton but didn't qualify for the win because he only pitched three innings. Stephen Pryor struck out the side in the seventh to earn his first save of the season.

The two teams will wrap up the series Friday night in Clinton. First pitch is set for 6:30 p.m. at Alliant Energy Field.
