BURLINGTON, IA - Chris Dennis homered and drove in four runs to give the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers a lead. Jon Pokorny protected that lead by getting the final four outs for a 7-3 win over the Burlington Bees on Friday night at Community Field. The Rattlers took two out of three games in the series with Burlington and is heading home from a seven game road trip after winning four of those games.

Burlington (42-84 overall, 20-37 second half) scored first when Wisconsin starting pitcher Efrain Nieves uncorked a wild pitch with a runner at third base in the bottom of the second inning.

Cutter Dykstra celebrated his return to the lineup in style. The Rattlers third baseman was activated from the disabled list in the afternoon. In his second at bat of the game, Dykstra delivered a two-out RBI single to score Dennis from second base and tie the game 1-1.

Wisconsin's bats got going in the top of the third inning. Kentrail Davis doubled to start the inning. One out later Khris Davis walked to put two runners on base. D'Vontrey Richardson was next and he doubled off the wall in right to score Kentrail Davis with the go ahead run. Then, Dennis launched a three-run homer to right-center and the Rattlers (55-73, 29-31) were in front 5-1.

Dennis had a hand in the two-run rally for the Rattlers in the top of the sixth. His RBI triple drove in Khris Davis. Cameron Garfield followed with an RBI single and the Rattlers were up 7-1.

Nieves stumbled a bit in the sixth inning by hitting the leadoff batter and giving up a one out single that put runners on the corners. Santo Manzanillo allowed one of the runners to score on a wild pitch, but he got the final two outs to keep Wisconsin in front 7-2.

The Bees made the game interesting in the bottom of the eighth inning. Fernando Cruz stepped up with two on and two out and singled in a run to make the score 7-3. Manzanillo was touched for another single by Julio to load the bases. The call went to the bullpen for Pokorny.

The lefty out of Kent State struck out Gerard Hall looking to end the threat. Pokorny went on to pitch a scoreless ninth inning to earn his seventeenth save of the season.

The Timber Rattlers franchise record for saves in a season was set in 1995. John Thompson had 19 saves in the first season of existence for the Rattlers.

Wisconsin begins a seven-game homestand with a game against the Kane County Cougars. This is the final Saturday night FOX 11 postgame fireworks display of the season. Saturday is also a Fruit Roll-Ups Fun Night. There will be Fruit Roll-Ups samples for fans 13 and up as they leave the stadium.

Game time is 6:35pm and the Rattlers will send Del Howell (3-6, 4.92) to the mound. Kane County has Jonathon Joseph (1-5, 3.35) as their scheduled starting pitcher.

If you can't make it out to Time Warner Cable Field for the game, you can tune in to AM1280, WNAM for the broadcast starting with the Miller Lite Pregame Show at 6:15pm.
