Manchester Monarchs News Release
MANCHESTER, N.H. - Manchester Monarchs Head Coach, Rich Seeley, announced today that goaltender, Doug Carr, has been returned from loan by the Ontario Reign (AHL), Colin Stevens has been recalled by the Portland Pirates (AHL) and Derek Arnold has been loaned to the Portland Pirates.
Carr, 26, has played in 13 games with the Monarchs this season, earning a 6-3-0-4 record while posting a 2.45 GAA and a 0.928 save percentage. Prior to losing his last two starts, Carr went without a regulation loss since December 13, going 5-0-0-3 in that span. Carr did not see game action after being loaned to the Reign on Feb. 12.
The 6-foot-2, 201-pound Hanover, Mass. native signed with the Monarchs on Dec. 8, 2015, after beginning the 2015-16 season with the Albany Devils (AHL). Since graduating from UMass-Lowell (H-East), Carr has spent two seasons as a professional, playing with the Abbotsford Heat (AHL), Devils, Adirondack Flames (AHL) and Colorado Eagles (ECHL).
Stevens receives his first career call-up to the AHL after being assigned to Manchester at the beginning of the season. The rookie goaltender played in 20 games for the Monarchs this season, posting a 13-5-1 record, a 2.36 GAA and a 0.921 save percentage. Stevens leaves the Monarchs on a six-game winning streak that began Jan. 16.
The 6-foot-1, 175-pound native of Niskayuna, N.Y. played collegiately at Union College, winning an NCAA Division I National Championship in the 2013-14 season. That year, Stevens was named a Second Team All-American after putting up a 28-4-2 record, a 2.05 GAA and a 0.929 save percentage.
Arnold makes his third trip to the AHL this season, but first with the Portland Pirates. Arnold was previously loaned to the Reign on two separate occasions, without recording a point in four total games.
With the Monarchs, the 5-foot-8, 172-pound native of Foxboro, Mass. played in 31 games, scoring 25 points on 14 goals and 11 assists. Arnold played collegiately at UMass-Lowell, playing in 154 games, scoring 98 points on 43 goals and 55 assists.
Carr and the Monarchs are back in action Friday, Feb. 19 (7 p.m.) when they visit the Reading Royals in the middle game of a three-game set with their division rivals, with the rubber game coming from Manchester on Saturday, Feb. 20 (7 p.m.) on Youth Hockey Night.
