Wichita, KS - The Springfield Cardinals (20-23, 54-58) got the potential tying and go-ahead runs to second and third with one down in the top of the 9th, but the Wichita Wind Surge (23-20, 51-60) escaped from there for the 5-4 win at Riverfront Stadium on Friday night.

Notables:
LF LJ Jones IV pounded a two-run homer in the 8th to bring the Cardinals back within a run, 5-4... DH Aaron Antonini slugged a solo shot in the 7th to get Springfield back within three, 5-2... 2B Thomas Saggese opened the 9th with a single and was followed by a walk from 3B Noah Mendlinger, but Wichita stranded both runners on base to close the win... RHP Bryan Pope and RHP Jose Martinez both put in 2.0 scoreless relief innings apiece to keep the Cardinals close.
