WICHITA KS, - Alex Isola hit his fifth home run in the last five games to give the Surge an early lead they would hold for the entire ballgame. The Wind Surge defeated the Cardinals 5-4 in front of a large home crowd of 7,221 fans. Wichita has now clinched the series after winning the first four games straight. They also extended their winning streak to six games.

The Wind Surge took an early lead in the bottom of the first. Alex Isola crushed a two-out two run home run 441 feet to put the Surge up.

In the top of the third the Cardinals put a run of their own on the board. Noah Mendlinger hit a sacrifice fly to deep center field and a runner was able to advance home.

Tanner Schobel hit an RBI single on a soft line drive to right field in the bottom of the third to extend the Surge lead back to two.

Wichita extended their lead to four in the bottom of the fourth. Seth Gray hit an RBI double to right field, and then Willie Joe Garry Jr. grounded into a force out that allowed Gray to reach home for the other run in the inning.

The Cardinals cut the Surge lead back to three in the top of the seventh inning. Aaron Antonini hit a solo home run on a fly ball to left center field.

Springfield continued to rally in the top of the eighth. L.J. Jones hit a two-run home run on a line drive over the right center field wall and the Surge lead was cut to just one.

Marco Raya made his seventh start of the season on the mound for the Wichita Wind Surge. He was limited to two innings by design and put on an impressive performance. He struck out three batters, walked none and only gave up one hit. Jaylen Nowlin replaced Raya and earned the win. His record improves to (2-0).

The starting pitcher for Springfield was Tink Hence. He pitched four innings where he gave up five runs off six hits. He struck out five batters and walked two more. He was credited with the loss and his record falls to (2-3).

The Wichita Wind Surge improve to (23-20, 51-60) and the Springfield Cardinals fall to (20-23, 54-58). The Wind Surge are now first in the division and lead by half of a game.

NOTES: Yoyner Fajardo set a new franchise record when he stole his 43rd base of the season. Alex Isola has hit five home runs in his last five games. The 7,221 fans attendance at Riverfront Stadium is the eighth largest crowd in stadium history.
