
Captains Win Third Straight

Lake County Captains News Release
(Eastlake, OH) - Todd Hankins had two hits and three RBI's in the Captains (8-5) victory over Lansing (2-10) by a final of 6-2. Hankins hit a solo homerun in the third inning, and a ground rule double in the fourth inning. The score after four innings was 3-1 Captains. Lake County had now won three consecutive games.
Lansing scored first, in the second inning. Santiago Nessy waked and got to third base with two outs. Nessy raced home on a wild pitch and the score was 1-0 Lugnuts. Lake County answered back with a solo homer from Hankins in the bottom of the third. Hankins first homer of the season tied the score at 1-1.
With the score 3-1, Lake County added a pair of runs in the seventh inning. With the bases loaded Anthony Santander singled home two runs to make the score 5-1. A double by the next hitter Jorge Martinez plated another run and the score was 6-1 headed to the eighth. In the eighth, the Lugnuts scored another run on a sacrifice fly to shallow left field. The score was 6-2, that was the final.
RHP Robbie Aviles (2-3) started the started the ballgame for Lake County. Aviles earned the win after going five innings and allowing just one earned run on four hits. Aviles walked three and struck out three. The right-hander departed with a hand injury while warming up to start the sixth inning. Jack Wagoner pitched two innings, and struck out two. Benny Suarez allowed two hits, one earned run one walk and he struck out one in one inning of work. D.J. Brown struck out the side in the ninth inning.
Lansing started RHP Ben White (4-5). White took the loss. He pitched five and two thirds innings, allowing seven hits, three runs only one earned run on two walks and three strikeouts. Efrain Nieves pitched the final two and one third innings with three hits three earned runs and allowed three hits with two walks and one strikeout.
The home stand concludes on Wednesday July 3 with a special pre- Independence Day Fireworks extravaganza presented by Universal Windows Direct following the 7 PM game. The Captains will offer a special buy two, get two special on hot dogs, hamburgers, cheeseburgers, grilled chicken sandwiches, French fries, onion rings, nachos and popcorn.
Fans are encouraged to ride their motorcycles to the park on Wednesday for Bike Night. There will be a motorcycle rally in the Lake Health Plaza which is outside the Left Field gate at Classic Park. There will be a pre-game motorcycle parade around the warning track prior to the game and the bikes will remain on the field for the National Anthem.
Lake County will conclude a two game series against the Lansing Lugnuts on Wednesday. The Captains will start RHP Jake Sisco (4-6, 3.55). The Lugnuts will start RHP Roberto Osuna (3-4, 4.20) First Pitch will be at 7:00PM from Classic Park.
