
Captains Sweep TinCaps with 10-3 Win

Lake County Captains News Release
(Eastlake, OH)- Paul Hendrix smacked his sixth homerun of the season, a three run homer in the bottom of the fifth, and Lake County beat Fort Wayne 10-3 on Wednesday. The homerun was one of three hits for Hendrix on the day and at the time gave the Captains the 5-1 lead. The Captains swept the three game set, their first sweep on the season.
Lake County (16-30) scored two runs in the bottom of the second inning. With one out, and two men on base, Claudio Bautista laced a bases clearing double to left field and the Captains led the game 2-0.
Fort Wayne (17-28) scored a run in the top of the fifth. Jake Bauers hit a double to lead off the inning. Bauers scored on a single from Henry Charles. The lead was cut to 2-1.
In the top of the sixth inning, Fernando Perez singled to lead off the inning. Franmil Reyes smoked a two-run homerun over the left field wall and the lead was cut to 5-3.
Lake County added on in the bottom of the seventh inning. Clint Frazier doubled, Paul Hendrix also singled and Frazier moved to third base. Dorssys Paulino singled home Frazier, Hendrix went to third and Paulino took second on the throw. The score was 6-3. Both Hendrix and Paulino raced home on a single from Grant Fink and the Captains led 8-3. Lake County added a pair of runs in the bottom of the eighth and the score was 10-3 Captains.
RHP Robbie Aviles (1-1) started for Lake County and earned the win. Aviles pitched seven innings and allowed six hits. Aviles allowed three earned runs, no walks and he struck out four. Aviles allowed one homerun on the day. Wander Beras pitched a scoreless top of the eighth inning and Trevor Frank pitched a scoreless ninth.
RHP Walker Weickel (1-6) started for Fort Wayne and took the loss. Weickel pitched six innings and allowed eight hits, five earned runs, two walks and three strikeouts. Tony Wieber pitched two innings and allowed five earned runs on seven hits. Wieber struck out one.
The Captains will travel to Bowling Green,KY to open a three game series on Thursday. The Captains will start RHP Dace Kime (0-6, 7.82) and the Hot Rods will counter with RHP Jaime Schultz (0-0,0.00). First Pitch is scheduled for 8:05 PM from Bowling Green Ballpark.
