Caps Pay Visit to Waterloo Saturday Night
February 6, 2016 - United States Hockey League (USHL)
Madison Capitols News Release
Waterloo, IA - The Madison Capitols (15-20-2-2) look to shrug off a shutout from Friday evening as they march into Young Arena to take on the Waterloo Black Hawks (19-16-0-2) on Saturday night in Iowa. Puck drop is set for 7:05 p.m.
The Capitols could not solve Cedar Rapids to kick off their weekend on Friday night at The Stable, as Ben Blacker's 26 saves blanked the Capitols 3-0, the third time this season Madison was shut out.
Meanwhile, the Black Hawks have plenty of anguish to shrug off from Friday as well, as they dropped a 6-3 decision in Des Moines to the Buccaneers. A five-goal Buccaneer explosion in the first period, taking place all in the span of 6:06, quickly chased Waterloo goaltender Cale Morris from the game, and Waterloo never recovered.
The Black Hawks picked up the victory in the teams' first entanglement on Nov. 25 at the Alliant Energy Center by a final score of 3-1. With the score tied at 1 apiece in period three, Yuri Terao scooped up the game-winning marker at the 8:50 mark of the final frame.
Garrett Metcalf was tremendous for the Capitols in net against Waterloo back in November, turning in a 41-save performance to keep his team close throughout an evening where the Black Hawks outshot Madison 44-31.
Tonight's matchup marks the return to Waterloo for ex-Black Hawks Phil Beaulieu and Tyson McLellan, who each were traded to the Capitols in exchange for Tony Stillwell in September.
Coverage from Young Arena begins at 7:00 p.m. on 106.7 FM, 1670 AM, The Zone. Fans can also listen live on the TuneIn radio app on their smartphones, or by visiting www.madcitysportszone.com.
The Capitols briefly return to Madison on Wednesday, Feb. 10 for a battle with the Muskegon Lumberjacks at Bob Suter's Capitol Ice Arena (2616 Pleasant View Rd, Middleton). This venue change is for Feb. 10 only, and fans with tickets marked for the Alliant Energy Center can use those to enter at Capitol Ice Arena.
General admission tickets for Wednesday's game are $10 apiece, and groups of 10 or more can call (608) 257-CAPS (2277) to reserve $8 group rate tickets (minimum 10 people).
