Hershey Bears News Release

HERSHEY - The HERSHEY BEARS announced today that defenseman Nolan Yonkman and left wing Tomas Fleischmann have been recalled to the NHL's Washington Capitals. The BEARS also today have signed left wing Chris Bala to a player tryout contract. The announcements were made today by BEARS President/GM Doug Yingst.

Yonkman, 24, returns to the Capitals after playing three of the team's first eight games. The 6'6", 247-pound Punnichy, Saskatchewan, native was assigned to HERSHEY Oct. 22 for conditioning and has played six games for the BEARS, recording 15 penalty minutes.

Fleischmann, 21, is tied for 10th in the AHL in scoring with 13 points (four goals, nine assists) in 10 games. He has at least a point in each of the last nine games after being held scoreless in the season opener and has led the Bears to a 5-3-0-3 record, good for second place in the AHL's East Division. A Koprivinice, Czech Republic, native, who twice represented his home country in the World Junior Championship, Fleischmann is poised to make his NHL debut. The Capitals acquired Fleischmann on Feb. 27, 2004, from Detroit along with two draft picks for Robert Lang.

Bala played in 58 games for HERSHEY last season, scoring nine goals and assisting on five others for 14 points. He began this season with the Milwaukee Admirals, scoring one goal in five games. He is expected to be in the lineup when the BEARS travel to Philadelphia to face the Phantoms Friday night at 7:05 p.m.

The BEARS host the Springfield Falcons Saturday night at GIANT Center at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are still available at the GIANT Center box office, or by calling (717) 508-BEAR.
