St. Pierre signs with Blackhawks

NORFOLK, VA - Today, the Norfolk Admirals announced that center Martin St. Pierre has been signed to an NHL contract by the Chicago Blackhawks. He will join the Blackhawks in Dallas on Friday.

Originally signed to an AHL Standard Player's Contract by Norfolk on September 22, 2005, the 22-year old forward has appeared in all nine games for the Admirals this season. He currently leads the Admirals in goals (4), assists (8), points (12) and plus/minus rating (plus-3), and is tied for the AHL lead in scoring among rookie skaters.

St. Pierre stands at 5'9" and 180 lbs. The Emburn, Ont., native made his professional debut last season, appearing in 45 games for the Greenville Grrrowl, netting 14 goals and 39 assists for 53 points and 55 PIM. He also played in 18 games with the AHL's Edmonton Road Runners, posting 4 goals and 3 assists for 7 points and 8 PIM.
