Falcons Recall Rookie From Johnstown

Springfield, MA - The Springfield Falcons, proud members of the American Hockey League, announced today that they have recalled left wing Zbynek Hrdel from their ECHL affiliate, the Johnstown Chiefs. Hrdel is expected to join the Falcons in Wilkes-Barre for their game against the Penguins on Friday night.

Hrdel has played in five games for the Chiefs this season collecting two goals and one assist for three points and two penalty minutes. Hrdel is tied for the Johnstown team lead in goals and second on the club in scoring. Hrdel also leads the Chiefs in shots on goal with 17. The 6-foot-4, 195-pound native of Pisek, Czech Republic is in his first season of professional hockey after spending the previous three seasons with Rimouski of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. Hrdel was selected by the Tampa Bay Lightning in the 9th round (286th overall) in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft.

The Falcons continue their three-game road trip in Wilkes-Barre on Friday, followed by a trip to Hershey on Saturday. Springfield returns home on Sunday to host the Hartford Wolf Pack at the MassMutual Center at 4:05 PM. All three games can be heard live on the Falcons Hockey Network, WMAS AM 1450, as "The Voice" of the Falcons John Michael handles the play-by-play duties.
