Canes Reassign Brendan Woods to Charlotte

RALEIGH, NC - Ron Francis, Executive Vice President and General Manager of the National Hockey League's Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team has reassigned forward Brendan Woods to the Charlotte Checkers of the American Hockey League (AHL).

Woods, 23, was recalled from Charlotte on Sunday, and played in Carolina's last three games. Prior to his recall, the Humboldt, Sask., native scored eight goals and earned seven assists (15 points) in 48 games this season with the Checkers. Since turning professional, Woods (6'4", 210 lbs.) has scored 26 goals and earned 27 assists (53 points) in 160 career AHL games, and has skated in five games with the Hurricanes after making his NHL debut in 2014-15. Carolina drafted Woods in the fifth round, 129th overall, in the 2012 NHL Draft.
