
Canadiens Sign Francis Lemieux to Three-Year Deal

Montreal Canadiens General Manager Bob Gainey announced today that the team has signed forward Francis Lemieux to a three-year contract. As per club policy, financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Signed by the Hamilton Bulldogs as a free agent in the summer of 2005, Lemieux, 21, is playing in his first professional season. The native of Sherbrooke, Quebec has played in 23 games for the Bulldogs this season, posting 13 points (five goals, eight assists), and 23 penalty minutes. He leads the Bulldogs in plus/minus with a rating of +2.
The 5'11, 185 pound centre played last season for the Chicoutimi Sagueneens (QMJHL) and finished tied for 12th in league scoring, posting 82 points (32 goals, 50 assists). In four seasons with Chicoutimi, Lemieux played in 272 games, earning 99 goals, 151 assists, 250 points, and 191 penalty minutes.
The Bulldogs next action will take place on Friday, December 9, when they face the Syracuse Crunch at Copps Coliseum. Game time is 7:30 p.m. This game can be seen live on Hamilton's Cable 14.
