Cam Reid to Join Winterhawks

Portland Winterhawks News Release
The Portland Winterhawks have announced that center Cam Reid, whose rights were acquired yesterday from the Edmonton Oil Kings, has chosen to leave St. Cloud State University and will join the Winterhawks.
"We're excited to add Cam to our team for the stretch run and the playoffs," said Portland Winterhawks General Manager & Head Coach Mike Johnston. "Cam is a big, skilled center with a tremendous shot who will fit in nicely with our group of forwards. We understand this was a tough decision for Cam and we're excited to add him to our group."
With Reid joining the Winterhawks, the conditional pick Portland sent Edmonton now becomes a second round pick in the 2013 Bantam Draft.
Reid, 20, is in his final season of junior eligibility. As teams can keep only three 20-year-olds on the roster, the Winterhawks have waived 20-year-old Dillon Wagner. Oliver Gabriel and team captain William Wrenn are the Winterhawks' other 20-year-olds.
Reid, drafted by the Nashville Predators in the seventh round of the 2009 National Hockey League Entry Draft, comes to Portland from St. Cloud State University, where he had six goals and nine assists for 15 points this season as a sophomore. As a freshman last season, Reid had eight goals and 21 assists for 29 points in 37 games.
Prior to attending St. Cloud State, Reid played three seasons in the British Columbia Hockey League with the Victoria Grizzlies and Westside Warriors, where in 167 games he amassed 49 goals and 89 assists for 138 points.
