Week in Review:
Friday, January 6th, 2011 at Prince George Cougars - 2-0 Win
Goaltender Cole Cheveldave recorded his second straight shutout in a 2-0 win in Prince George Friday night. Bronson Maschmeyer opened the scoring when he put in a rebound for a 1-0 lead. Colin Smith netted his 20th of the season when Tim Bozon created a turnover. Cheveldave earned his 19th win of the season making 23 saves for the shutout. Tim Bozon finished with two assists for the Blazers. Full Recap and Highlights.
Saturday, January 7th, 2011 at Prince George Cougars - 6-1 Win
The Blazers won for their third consecutive time over the Cougars in a 6-1 victory. It is the first time the Blazers had won back-to-back games in Prince George since February 2009. Brendan Ranford had a big night scoring the games first two goals and assisting on two others. Bronson Maschmeyer scored twice more for seven goals on the season. Newly acquired forward Brandon Herrod chipped in with two assists. Tim Bozon and Matt Needham rounded out the scoring for the Blazers. Cole Cheveldave was the winning goaltender with his 20th victory of the season. Full Recap and Highlights.

WHL Trade Deadline
The WHL trade deadline is on Tuesday, January 10th at 2:00pm PT. The Blazers made a splash last week when they acquired 20-year-old forward Brandon Herrod from the Prince Albert Raiders. Herrod has four points in three games with the Blazers this season. Stay tuned to the Blazers twitter account @blazerhockey for the quickest information.
Blazers Ranked 9th in BMO MasterCard CHL Top 10
The Kamloops Blazers continue to be in the CHL Top 10 rankings. This is the fourth time the Blazers have been ranked in the CHL Top 10 this season. The Blazers are the second ranked WHL team behind the Tri-City Americans, who are ranked 2nd in the CHL. To view the CHL Top 10 Rankings, follow this link.
Kids Month
January is Kids' Month! Receive a free youth ticket with the purchase of a regular priced adult or senior walk-up ticket to any Blazers home game in the month of January (Does not apply to Premium seating). New this year will be an opportunity to write a letter to your favourite Blazers player and let them know why you're their biggest fan! Drop your letter off at the Blazers Corner Store and the Blazers will post them online for everyone to read. Select fans will also receive responses to their letters so make sure to include your return mailing address with your letter!
Blazers Lead the B.C. Division, 2nd Overall in the WHL
The Kamloops Blazers won both games this past weekend and continue to lead the B.C. Division with 59 points and a 28-10-1-2 record. The Blazers currently hold a 7-point lead in the Division over the Vancouver Giants. The hockey club has continued where they left off after the Christmas break with a 4-1-0-1 record and go into this week with a 6-1-0-2 record in their past nine games. The Blazers will have a chance this week to surpass last seasons win total of 29.
Monster Mondays
To kick start your week, the Kamloops Blazers will be offering game tickets for a low price of only $10. Every Monday, tickets can be purchased at the Kamloops Blazers Box office for only $10 for any scheduled home games that week. This promotion applies to non-premium seating and will be in effect for the remainder of the season. Tickets must be purchased in person at the Blazers Box Office. Three Home Games This Week
The Kamloops Blazers are home for three games this week. On Wednesday, the Blazers will be tested as they host the #1 ranked team in the CHL, the Tri-City Americans. The Americans are coming in having won 13 straight games. The Blazers have played the Americans once this season and fell 3-2 in overtime back on November 19th in Tri-City.
The Blazers will also host two weekend home dates with the Seattle Thunderbirds and Everett Silvertips making their final trips to the ISC this season.
Blazers Represented at International Events
The Kamloops Blazers had two players return from international events this past weekend. Defenseman Marek Hrbas competed at the World Junior Championship in Calgary and Edmonton. The 18-year-old helped the Czech Republic to a 5th place finish with a victory over Slovakia.
Forward Matt Needham competed at the U-17 World Challenge in Windsor, Ontario during the Christmas season. He helped Team Pacific to a 5th place finish in the tournament. Team Pacific had a 3-1 record during the round robin, but finished third in their pool due to goal differential.
The Blazers also had connections to Canada's U-18 Women's team that won the World Championship in Prerov and Zlin in the Czech Republic. Emerance Maschmeyer made 28 saves in a 3-0 victory over the USA in the Gold Medal game. Emerance, the younger sister of Blazers defenseman Bronson, was named the player of the game in the win. The Blazers Media/Video Coordinator, Tim O'Donovan, was the team's Video Coach at the event.
