Calgary Hitmen News Release
Calgary, AB - The dogs will run wild when the Calgary Hitmen host the Kootenay ICE in their final game before the holiday break on Sunday, Dec. 17. It's a 2:00 p.m. start for the sixth annual Pucks for Paws highlighted by a first intermission Wiener Dog Race at the Scotiabank Saddledome.
The goal line to far blue line sprint will feature more than 20 dogs including Woudie, the furry friend of Canadian country music star Paul Brandt.
The game, in partnership with WEB Consulting Ltd., raises funds and awareness for the Four Feet Companion Foundation, a local volunteer-run agency that provides financial grants to registered animal charities in Calgary.
The Hitmen are also pleased to announce recently acquired Riley Stotts is now teaming with Tristen Nielsen to raise money for the cause. The Calgary Hitmen Foundation and WEB Consulting Ltd. will each donate $10 to the Four Feet Companion Foundation for every regular season point recorded by the pair. To date, Nielsen and Stotts have a combined 20 Hitmen points to bring the current Pucks for Paws donation to $400. Additionally, WEB Consulting Ltd. will donate $10 per point to Southwood Veterinary Hospital for animal owners who are unable to afford veterinary care.
Fans will have an opportunity to learn more about responsible pet guardianship and meet some of the Wiener Dog Race participants at the Pucks for Paws concourse display located behind section 211.
It's also Sunday Funday presented by Pocky. There will be face painters, concourse activities, lots of giveaways and a post-game family skate that is FREE with a game ticket. Sunday Funday contests feature a specially priced $8.99 ticket (plus applicable fees) for kids 12 and under.
