Prince Albert Raiders News Release

Prince Albert, SK - The Prince Albert Raiders (13-14-5-2) were downed 7-3 by the Kelowna Rockets (19-11-2-1) on Friday night at the Art Hauser Centre.

The Rockets were led by Kole Lind, who had a hat trick in his first game back with Kelowna after being cut by Team Canada's World Junior camp.

The Raiders got on the board first 4:57 into the opening period. Brett Leason forced a turnover behind the Kelowna net and fed Spencer Moe in front, who roofed it over a sprawling Roman Basran for his sixth goal of the campaign. Five minutes later, Lind tallied his first of the game on the power play to tie it at 1-1.

On a late Raiders power play, Jordy Stallard restored the Raiders' lead. The overager beat Basran for his 25th goal of the season and 11th on the power play. Just two minutes later, Lind re-tied the game with another power-play goal of his own. Then with 46 seconds left in the period, Carsen Twarynski charged to the net and got the puck past Ian Scott to put the Rockets up 3-2 after the first.

The Rockets doubled their lead with the only goal of the second period. Wil Kushniryk snapped a shot through Scott from the top of the faceoff circle with 5:07 left to play in the middle frame.

In the third, Lind completed his hat trick with his third power-play goal of the game 53 seconds into the period. The Rockets added two more goals midway through the period as Twarynski scored his second of the game, followed closely by Conner Bruggen-Cate. Max Martin added a goal with 1:58 remaining to round out the scoring with his fifth of the year.

Scott finished the game with 19 saves before being pulled for Curtis Meger with 5:22 remaining. Meger stopped the only shot he faced. Basran picked up the win by making 15 saves for the Rockets.

The Raiders will get some time off as they enter the holiday break with a 13-14-5-2 record, which equates to 33 points and a 17-point improvement from this time last season.

Up next for the Raiders is their traditional home-and-home series with the Saskatoon Blades following the break. This year's series begins on Wednesday, December 27 at the SaskTel Centre. Game time is 7 p.m.

The return match at the Art Hauser Centre takes place on Thursday, December 28. Puck drop is set for 7 p.m. Tickets are available at raiderhockey.com, the Raider Office, or by calling 306-764-5348.
