Prince Albert Raiders News Release

Swift Current, SK - The Prince Albert Raiders (12-13-5-2) appeared to be heading to overtime again, but the Swift Current Broncos (23-7-0-1) scored in the final minute to down the Raiders 2-1 at the Credit Union i-Plex on Tuesday night.

Former Raider Matteo Gennaro potted a puck in the crease with 21 seconds left to give the Broncos the win in his 300th career game.

The Raiders were slow out of the gate due to some penalty trouble in the first period. Prince Albert faced five first-period shorthanded situations, but managed to kill each one.

In the second, the Broncos converted on their sixth power play of the night. Colby Sissons' shot from the point found its way through traffic and past Ian Scott to give Swift Current the 1-0 edge. The Raiders pushed back with some chances of their own, including a two-on-one rush that ended with Jordy Stallard hitting the post.

Early in the third, the Raiders got on the board. Cole Fonstad collected a rebound in front of Logan Flodell and made a nice backhand-forehand move to score his 11th goal of the season.

In the final minute of the third, Parker Kelly's shot from the slot was blocked and sent the Broncos the other way. The puck ended up on Max Patterson's stick, who centred a pass that got deflected by Gennaro from the top of the crease and give Swift Current the 2-1 win.

Scott kept the Broncos at bay for most of the game, including a 10-save first period while the Raiders were mostly shorthanded. The Toronto Maple Leafs draft pick stopped 27 shots in the loss. Flodell made 34 saves in the win.

The Raiders are back at it tomorrow night at the Art Hauser Centre against the Lethbridge Hurricanes (14-14-2-0), who lost to the Blades in Saskatoon on Tuesday. Puck drop is 7 p.m. Tickets are available at raiderhockey.com, the Raider Office, or by calling 306-764-5348.
