Raiders Take Down Hurricanes

Prince Albert, SK - The Prince Albert Raiders (13-13-5-2) took the lead late in the second period and didn't look back en route to a 3-2 win over the visiting Lethbridge Hurricanes (14-15-2-0) on Wednesday night at the Art Hauser Centre.

The Hurricanes opened the scoring 4:52 into the game. Jake Elmer slid the puck underneath Ian Scott's pad to give Lethbridge the advantage. About two minutes later, Brett Leason tied the game with his fourth of the year. He streaked down the right wing and beat Hurricanes goaltender Reece Klassen low blocker with a wrister at the 6:57 mark.

Later in the period, the Raiders took the lead. Jordy Stallard buried a one-timer pass from Brayden Pachal for his 24th goal of the season with 6:45 remaining in the frame. It was also Stallard's 10th power-play goal of the season.

In the second, the Hurricanes tied the game. Elmer scored his second of the game at the 8:27 mark of the period, which was his 11th of the year.

The Raiders re-gained the lead late in the period. Curtis Miske outwaited Klassen in the slot and lifted over the goaltender to put the Raiders up 3-2 at the end of the period.

Scott and the Raiders' defence took the game the rest of the way. The Toronto Maple Leafs draft pick made eight saves to hold the Hurricanes at bay and preserve the win. In total, Scott made 28 saves on the evening.

Klassen stopped 29 shots in a losing effort.

The Raiders play their final game before the holiday break on Friday night against the Kelowna Rockets (18-11-2-1) on Santa Anonymous Night. Fans are encouraged to brings toys for donation to the Salvation Army and the Prince Albert Optimist Club.
